Professional artist with a special interest in watercolour and oil painting. While
enthusiastic about all natural and energetic subjects, my particular passion is painting amateur and professional sports athletes and translating their energy on to canvas.
I also have a great interest in the energy of a city its bustle of people and impressive architecture I always look for a different angle or skyline to express the spirit of a place. While it is not possible to match the wonder and beauty of nature I love the feeling of creating a watercolour or oil on location surrounded by a natural paradise.
Travelling to different parts of the world I've found a whole new universe of potential, pushing the boundaries of what can be done through art. From landscapes and of Australia, mountain ranges of the French Alps nature inspires me to pick up my paintbrushes. Art is everywhere I look there is a painting at every turn.
Painting a picture requires time and energy, thought and vision. My Paintings highlight the feeling and atmosphere as I understand it from a scene. My philosophy is to paint what I know, love and have first hand experience of, I paint what excites me. I truly believe that when feeling excited about the image during its creation that energy will translate to the canvas and therefore on to the viewer.
Proposal
My work would incorporate local environment and landmarks in large scale oil paintings using native materials. I would endeavor to capture the energy and vibrance of the city by creating a series of paintings that would showcase the city as a whole and the bigger picture of what the area represents. I would paint panoramic oils of different times of day showing how the mood, energy and people change during a 24 hour period.
The second part of my painting mission would be to capture locals of the city using the environment and architecture to create art through movement and sport, meaning I would paint athletes participating in Parkour, break dancing, skateboarding, local pastimes etc... using the city as only the locals know how, finding alternative uses for urban objects they come across on daily life.
Final part would be paintings of inspiration, setting out with a blank canvas and finding out what the city means to me as an outsider, what is highlighted as I walk through an unknown environment. The feelings and emotions I get as I immerse myself in another culture. Leaving room for inspiration in my work and process.
